Laser Periodontal Treatment

(Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure)

At South Tampa Periodontics and Implant Dentistry, Dr. Matthew Waite and Dr. Michael Tesmer utilize the only FDA-approved laser to treat periodontal (gum) disease.

Prior to this procedure being introduced, the traditional process for treating periodontal (gum) disease was surgery, which involved using scalpels to cut away diseased or infected tissue and sutures (stitches) to close the wound. Patients would leave the dentist office with sensitive gums, exposed root surfaces, significant down time, and prolonged healing.

In many cases when using LANAP, there is no loss of gum tissue volume, and depending on the severity of the gum disease, the whole mouth can be treated in one day. Typically there is no cutting, no stitching, and no long-lasting postoperative pain, which makes it easier for you to return to your normal routine.

Our goal is to provide the most advanced, proven treatments for our patients in a relaxing, comfortable environment.

LAPIP (Laser Assisted Peri-Implant Procedure)
is used to treat ailing dental implants.

It is the only FDA-approved laser treatment for dental implants. While dental implants are truly a revolution in dental health, they may still have complications. Infections below the gum line (called Peri-Implantitis) can occur.

Before this remarkable procedure, the only way to treat Peri-Implantitis was through surgery and bone grafting, possibly even removing the implant. Like with LANAP, LAPIP utilizes a laser for most of the procedure, without the need for a scalpel or stitches. In some cases, the treatment has even shown to regenerate new bone around the implant!

Don’t think that an infected dental implant is going to lead to invasive surgery. Dr. Waite and Dr. Tesmer at South Tampa Periodontics and Implant Dentistry can save your dental implant and you from surgery using the LAPIP procedure.
